Arbor Day is on its way!

What is Arbor Day? Arbor Day is a day to celebrate, plant and care for trees. Arbor Day is Tree Musketeers’ largest annual event, with hundreds of volunteers participating.

When is Arbor Day? We will next celebrate Arbor Day on March 11, 2017.  In California, Arbor Week is observed in March. National Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April, but most states however plan it to coincide with optimal planting season. To know where your state celebrates Arbor Day, visit this interactive map.

The Endangered – Giraffe

By Sebastian Hanson, Youth Manager

Known for their peculiar appearance, Giraffes are the tallest land-based mammals and don orange and brown splotches on their fur. They stand around fourteen to nineteen feet tall and typically weigh about 1800 pounds (female) and 2600 (male). Always seen as a funky animal showcased at the zoo, the Giraffe has been facing survival struggles in recent times. Their population has declined by a shocking forty percent over the past thirty years and continues to face the threat of extinction today.

Chevron Invests in Clean Air

Tree Musketeers has always been proud to call Chevron its partner, and some recent news makes it even clearer to the outside world why an environmental organization would take such a stand.

The El Segundo refinery has just completed over a $1 billion in projects to enhance environmental performance and safety. Further, Chevron El Segundo earned the title of safest operating refinery in the country upon receiving the 2015 Distinguished Safety Award from the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers Association. But wait, there’s more! Chevron was also honored by the Project Management Institute with the Project of the Year award. Congratulations are justly deserved.

Chevron was Tree Musketeers’ first corporate donor, and has remained one of its most generous financial partners during the intervening 30 years. Beyond the annual donation check and serving on committees, Chevron contributes in-kind goods and services on a meaningful level, and its people are always visible among volunteers at events.
