On March 11th, 2017 over 350 tall and small volunteers, from around the South Bay, gathered in El Segundo to dig into the local community. Tree Musketeers has always focused on planting as well as caring for trees to ensure they reach maturity, which is when they will provide the biggest benefit for the local environment. So this year’s Arbor Day Task Force decided to plant 10 trees, care for another 200 Trees to the Sea along Imperial Highway and add an activity never done by Arbor Day volunteers before at Tree Musketeers – pruning! Several dozen trees were pruned by volunteers in small groups, all led by certified arborists and tree care professionals. The aesthetic results were immediate and the long-term impact for the trees will become more evident as time goes on.
Lunch, as always, was provided by our event sponsor Chevron, while dessert and some drawing prizes were given by other local businesses. We would like to give a big thank you to all of our sponsors!
